French mayors cause traffic problems in Paris
Two feuding French mayors have brought traffic chaos to the suburbs of Paris when each of them declared the same road a one-way system, but going the opposite way.

Patrick Balkany, the conservative mayor of Levallois-Perret, had decided that the D909 should be one-way to cut down on heavy traffic through his district, however, Gilles Catoire, the Socialist mayor of Clichy-la-Garenne, claimed that this created a problem in his suburb.

AFP news agency reported that Clichy's deputy mayor, Alain Fournier, had explained: "What Clichy has done is not a long-term solution, but it is a response to a unilateral decision by the town of Levallois."
