French security man kidnapped in Somalia escapes
A Frenchman, who works as a security adviser and who had been kidnapped by Islamist militants in Somalia, has managed to escape it has been reported.

The man, who had been abducted from a hotel in Mogadishu as well as a colleague last month, is said to have killed three of his captors as he made his getaway.

SomaliaThe French foreign ministry has confirmed the man’s escape but denied that any violence or killing took place.

There is some confusion still over whether the second person who had been kidnapped has escaped or is still a captive.

The two men were there to help train forces for the UN-backed interim government that has been fighting against Islamist rebels for control of Somalia.

Abdulkadir Hussein Wehliye, on behalf of this government, has said that the man who had escaped was now safe in the presidential palace.
