French branch of US firm Molex closes after protest
A French branch of the American company Molex has closed down a car parts factory for security reasons following a protest by angry employees who allegedly assaulted a manager of the firm.

Molex claim that striking staff of the company assaulted manager of the company, Eric Doesburg, causing actual injury.

Approximately 160 protestors have assembled at the factory, where the row has already stopped the assembly of electronic parts since 7 July.

Molex is in talks with union representatives about the matter but the unions argue that the current factory is economically viable and that the compensation offer for layoffs that the firm is offering is unacceptable.

The Molex website has a statement that explains the plant has been closed down "to help ensure the safety of employees and security of the facility after an employee and two security guards were injured".
