French motorbike rider Randy de Puniet breaks ankle
French motorcyclist Randy de Puniet looks likely to miss the Czech MotoGP on 16 August now because he has broken his left ankle in a motocross accident.

28-year-old De Puniet, who rides for Honda, sustained the injury while out on his motorbike with his personal trainer Yves Demaria, who is a former motocross rider.

Randy de PunietDe Puniet fell off his bike and the impact when he landed broke his left ankle.

De Puniet is very disappointed that he has suffered this injury but is nevertheless going to try and recover in time for the next race at Brno on 16 August.

The French motorcyclist is in eighth place in the championship standings on 74 points, and just five points away from seventh-placed Marco Melandri.

Although he is disappointed that he got hurt, De Puniet said he knows that training is very important in sport.
