France international footballer Frederic Piquionne signed to Portsmouth

France international footballer Frederic Piquionne has been signed by Portsmouth. The Lyon striker has joined the British football club on a loan with an exclusive option by Portsmouth to buy him at a later stage.

30-year-old Piquionne had earlier in his career joined Lyon for £4m after leaving Monaco last summer.

Piquionne played 23 times for Lyon last season, and he scored three goals in the matches he was in.

Piquionne was born in the French territory of New Caledonia in the south Pacific, but he moved to join European football when he went to Nimes.

Piquionne was with Rennes and St Etienne after that before Les Gones signed him last year. Following an impressive past career with the French teams he is now all set to play as part of a British football club.
