The judge’s decision follows an agreement made with Jackson's former-wife Debbie Rowe, mother of the two eldest children Prince Michael, 12, and Paris, 11. Although Ms Rowe is the biological mother of these two children she relinquished custody rights when she got a divorce from Jackson in 1999.
However, Rowe later applied for access to the children to be reinstated, and came to an agreement with Jackson in 2006. Under the new ruling by the court, Ms Rowe will still have visitation rights with the two oldest children and will carry on getting support payments.
Michael Jackson had named his mother Katherine as guardian of the children, if anything happened to him, in a will he made in 2002.
Superior Court Judge Mitchell Beckloff has granted Jackson’s mother a monthly allowance from the singer's estate.
Michael Jackson’s youngest son – seven-year-old Prince Michael II, who became known as Blanket - was by a surrogate mother whose identity has not been made public.
