French President Nicolas Sarkozy taken to hospital
French President Nicolas Sarkozy became ill while jogging and has gone into hospital, it has been reported.

The AFP news agency has revealed that the president, who was feeling faint, has been diagnosed with a "minor" nerve complaint.

French President Nicolas SarkozyThe French leader was taken ill while at his weekend retreat near Versailles, outside Paris, and he went into a military hospital, the report added but the president’s official office at the Elysee Palace has not given any more information.

President Sarkozy is said by the AFP agency to have suffered a vagal nerve attack, which can cause a brief loss of consciousness and affect the heart rate.

The French president is often seen running and is also a cyclist, and earlier this month his last medical examination showed normal results for cardiovascular and blood tests so it was thought that he had been in good health until now.
