Tour de France accident kills woman
An accident on the route of the Tour de France on Saturday has claimed the life of a woman spectator and injured two other people when the driver of a police bike fell off and the bike went onward into the crowd.

The woman, described as in her 60s, got hit by the bike as she was crossing the road along the route of the 14th stage of the cycling race.

Tour de France spectator killedThe accident took place in the town of Wittelsheim, near Colmar in north-eastern France.

It was the first time anyone had been killed because of the Tour de France race since two children met their deaths in 2000 and 2002 when they were hit by cars.

The injured people in the recent accident, are expected to recover from their injuries. They were a 37-year-old woman and a man in his 60s, according to AFP news agency.
