French paper L’Equipe’s article disappoints Mark Cavendish

British cyclist Mark Cavendish has come under criticism by an anonymous rider in a story by an anonymous writer in the French L’Equipe newspaper.

24-year-old Cavendish says he will view such criticism as a compliment to his performance skills at this year's Tour de France in which he has just won the eleventh stage on Wednesday.

In the article the anonymous rider has alleged that Cavendish is being arrogant and racist and that he has offended his French cycling rivals.

Cavendish said he was disappointed by this criticism in the media and pointed out that because they cannot fault his cycling ability they have made up the other stuff about him.

Wednesday’s victory on stage 11 was actually Cavendish's fourth at this year's Tour de France, and his second win in two days.
