Around 600 people turned up at the O2 where many added their own messages to the tributes already there whilst others sang Michael Jackson hits along with fellow-mourners.
At 1830 BST the fans held a minute’s silence because this was when the doors to arena would have been due to open if the singer was still alive.
The Lyric Theatre in the West End of London has also become a venue where fans have felt they should leave their tributes and turn into a shrine to the star because this is where the Jackson tribute show Thriller Live has been staged.
Jackson had said that the O2 concerts would be his final performances in London but he never got to sing in any.
