Michael Jackson fans stage vigil at London’s O2 Arena
Although Michael Jackson is dead his fans have been gathering at London's O2 arena, where the star had been due to perform a series of 50 concerts starting on Monday.

Many fans brought candles and flowers and staged a vigil in tribute to the singer who died on 25 June and was unable to perform in the This Is It concerts.

Michael JacksonAround 600 people turned up at the O2 where many added their own messages to the tributes already there whilst others sang Michael Jackson hits along with fellow-mourners.

At 1830 BST the fans held a minute’s silence because this was when the doors to arena would have been due to open if the singer was still alive.

The Lyric Theatre in the West End of London has also become a venue where fans have felt they should leave their tributes and turn into a shrine to the star because this is where the Jackson tribute show Thriller Live has been staged.

Jackson had said that the O2 concerts would be his final performances in London but he never got to sing in any.
