French President Sarkozy meets the UK PM Gordon Brown

The UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown has been meeting with French President Nicolas Sarkozy for talks in the town of Evian in France.

The two leaders have been discussing the economic crisis and problems with Iran before this week's G8 summit takes place, and they were both full of praise for each other, as well as pointing out that relations between Britain and France are very strong.

President Sarkozy said that the April G20 summit, which had taken place in London, had been chaired "remarkably" by the British PM.

Mr Brown complimented Sarkozy by saying he was "truly a force of nature".

President Sarkozy also said there was a "total convergence" of viewpoints between the two countries, and Mr Brown stressed that the relationship between the UK and France had "never been better".
