The case was filed at a court in Los Angeles.
44-year-old Love, who is the widow of Nirvana singer and guitarist Kurt Cobain, and her legal representatives have, as yet, made no comment at this stage of the proceedings.
In March this year, Love, who is the singer for the rock band Hole, was also sued by a fashion designer because of messages the star had published on the Internet.
Designer Dawn Simorangkir alleged that Love had posted "menacing and disturbing" comments about her on the rock star's Twitter and MySpace sites.
Love is charged with libel, invasion of privacy, interfering with Ms Simorangkir's business, as well as being the cause of emotional distress and a breach of contract, Reuters news agency reported.
