
The Prime Minister added that 7,000 rescuers are still looking for any other survivors and the rescue operation would carry on for another 48 hours.
An estimated 1,000 people were injured by the quake and as many as 17,000 others lost their homes in the Abruzzo region of Italy.
Thousands of people were forced to spend the night in emergency shelter as the earthquake tremors continued in the area.
Mr Berlusconi also revealed that from the total number of dead victims of the earthquake 190 people had so far been named, leaving another 17 still waiting to be identified.
15 more people are reported to have gone missing, but it is not known if they had left the area before the quake struck.
