The 90,000 sex offenders that were discovered on MySpace is a considerable increase in what was expected and is nearly twice what had been forecast last year.
Connecticut attorney general Richard Blumenthal said he wasn’t surprised by the results and the AP news agency quoted him saying that the number found "provides compelling proof that social networking sites remain rife with sexual predators."
Facebook and Myspace have pledged to increase their security measures and will have stricter age verification as well as cutting down the contact between under- and over-18 age groups.
MySpace has previously removed sex offenders from its site back in 2007 when 29,000 users were alos deleted because they were sex offenders.
