Nude ramblers can be fined in the Alps in Switzerland
Naked country ramblers have become a new trend in the Swiss Alps and a local government is planning to take legal action against these people.

Authorities in the canton of Appenzell Innerrhoden say they intend fining anyone found walking in the region if they are not wearing any clothes.

Swiss AlpsA sudden increase in the number of nude hikers last year has prompted the action ahead of this year’s main hiking season.

"FKK", or "free body culture", as it is known, has become a popular trend in Germany and it is so far mainly Germans who are responsible for the naked hiking.

Melchior Looser, justice minister of the Appenzell Innerrhoden was quoted in The Guardian as explaining:"The point is many children visit our mountains in the summer."

A nude rambler had already been held in custody last autumn, but could not be fined because there was no law against the practice then. This is why the Swiss authorities are bringing in the new law.
