Al Pacino and Robert De Niro film poster ruled as offensive
A film poster for Righteous Kill starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro and which was on display at Stockwell Tube station during the Jean Charles de Menezes inquest has caused complaints.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) has ruled that the poster could have caused serious offence and breached rules on decency.

Al Pacino and Robert De NiroIt had been on show at the London station where 27-year-old Mr de Menezes had been shot dead after he had been thought to be a suicide bomber.

Text on the poster reads: "There's nothing wrong with a little shooting as long as the right people get shot."

Five complaints had come in from concerned members of the public who thought the slogan on the poster glamourised violence, and another person argued that the film's newspaper advertisement was wrong when there is the reality of gun and knife crime.

Film distributor Lions Gate and advertising company CBS had claimed they would remove the poster in question but it was still at the station when members of the inquest jury went to Stockwell in September.
