Ms Bruni’s case rests on the fact that neither she nor Swiss-born fashion photographer Michel Comte gave permission for Pardon to use her photo, which had been originally intended as part of a campaign against HIV/AIDS in 1993.
Pardon claim they have withdrawn the bags and will make sure they would all be burnt.
The bags in question have already been sold in Reunion and were going to be launched in France as well.
Peter Mertes, who runs Pardon, has claimed through the company’s lawyer that the sum sought by Ms Bruni was far too high, and the court has yet to make a decision on this.
