Six handwritten versions of The Tale of Beedle The Bard had been given as presents to close friends of the best-selling author, however, a seventh copy was sold for nearly £2m at auction, and this caused Rowling to publish it as a book and to donate all monies from sales to a children's charity.
Over seven million copies of The Tale of Beedle the Bard have already been printed in 27 languages.
It was first made reference to in Rowling’s book Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and it consists of five fairy tales, as well as "commentary" and footnotes by Professor Dumbledore, who is a regular character in the Potter series of stories.
