Former Jimi Hendrix Experience drummer dies
Mitch Mitchell, who was formerly the drummer with the legendary Jimi Hendrix Experience, has been discovered dead in his American hotel room, it has been reported.

61-year-old Mitchell’s body was found in the Benson Hotel in Portland, Oregon, in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

Mitch MitchellAssociated Press news agency has said that the British drummer’s death appeared to be from natural causes but that an autopsy was going to be performed.

Mitchell’s death means that all of the Jimi Hendrix Experience are now dead - Hendrix himself died in 1970 and the band's bass-player Noel Redding died in 2003.

Mitchell, who was with the Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1966 and appeared at Woodstock three years later, had been performing still and had been recently touring with the Experience Hendrix Tour.

Mitchell played drums on the Hendrix records such as Are You Experienced? Electric Ladyland and Axis: Bold As Love, as well as having also played with Eric Clapton and John Lennon.
