Swiss star Roger Federer beat Czech player Radek Stepanek, who was a late replacement for the injured Andy Roddick, and the result was a 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 win to Federer.
Roddick had been forced to withdraw from the tournament because of an injured ankle so Stepanek became the second replacement player at the event after Simon had replaced Rafael Nadal from Spain.
Simon had defeated Federer in his first game but wasn’t able to succeed again against Murray.
