French President Sarkozy fails to stop voodoo doll
French President Nicolas Sarkozy's bid to stop sales of a voodoo doll that depicts him has failed after a judge in Paris rejected the case.

The judge ruled that the doll the president objected to was "within the authorised limits of free expression and the right to humour".

The doll in question comes with a kit including pins you can stick in parts of the body, which has selected quotes from President Sarkozy printed on it.

President Sarkozy was trying to take legal action against the publishing company K&B that produces the doll, after it went on sale on 9 October.

The French President case rests on whether he has exclusive rights over his own image, which is what his lawyer believes.

K&B refused to stop selling the voodoo doll, claiming that President Sarkozy had over-reacted, and the company has also manufactured another doll of Segolene Royal, who was Mr Sarkozy's rival in the presidential elections in 2007.
