Roxy Music singer Bryan Ferry gets BMI icon award
Popular Roxy Music singer Bryan Ferry is to receive a BMI Icon honours award at the American performing rights organisation's yearly London Awards, it has been reported.

This prestigious award is presented to BMI songwriters who have had "a unique and indelible influence on generations of music makers," and Van Morrison and Ray Davies of the Kinks have also been given it in the past.


Bryan Ferry62-year-old Bryan Ferry will receive his BMI Icon title at a ceremony to be held on 7 October.

Ferry, who became famous as a pop star in the 1970s as the lead singer and main songwriter with Roxy Music, scored hits with songs such as Slave to Love and More Than This.

Ferry’s latest studio album, entitled Dylanesque, was released in 2007.

The BMI awards ceremony will be honouring the best British, European and Jamaican songwriters and publishers of the last year.
