French mass grave for WWI soldiers relocates
The bodies of British and Australian soldiers killed in WWI are to be moved from a French mass grave and buried again at a new cemetery in the country.

The remains of as many as 400 soldiers, which were discovered at the grave in north-east France in May are going to be reburied in their own plots and as near as possible to where they were located.

The troops met their deaths at the Battle of Fromelles in July 1916, which was said to be one of the fiercest battles fought by Australian soldiers in the First World War, and it is reported that 5,533 Australian soldiers and 1,547 British soldiers died.

The mass grave near Pheasant Wood on the outskirts of Fromelles had been found by an amateur Australian historian and his discovery was confirmed by archaeologists from Glasgow University working on behalf of the Australian Government.
