No charge for Britney Spears despite photographer’s claim

Singer Britney Spears has escaped getting charged because of a paparazzi photographer's complaint that she drove over his foot in Los Angeles.

The photographer, who has not been named, had filed his complaint against the star in May, almost six months after he said it had actually happened.

Deputy District Attorney Joseph Shidler was not impressed with what was being claimed because there was lack of any proof and he said: "We have no evidence to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the suspect was aware that the victim's foot had been struck by the car."

Mr Shidler added that he had been looking at a video and photos of the incident, and he went on to say: "the only way the victim's foot could have been where the video indicates it to be was by the victim placing it in that location".

Britney Spears has avoided getting a case against her on this occasion but she has been in trouble with the law in the past for driving offences. Last October the singer pleaded not guilty to driving without a valid licence.
