Cheryl Cole replaces Sharon Osbourne on X Factor
Girls Aloud pop singer Cheryl Cole has been announced as the replacement judge on The X Factor now that Sharon Osbourne has left the series.

Osbourne, 55, who was a judge for four years, said that both Cole and Spice Girl Mel B had been approached about taking over from her.

Cheryl Cole24-year-old Cheryl Cole will be joining Simon Cowell, Louis Walsh and Dannii Minogue on the popular programme.

Cole, who got her big break when Girls Aloud were the winners of reality TV show Popstars: The Rivals, admitted it was "scary" to be the new judge on the X Factor and she added: "It's a massive honour to be following in the footsteps of Sharon Osbourne."

Osbourne announced on Friday that she was leaving the series, but she has since denied the speculation that she did so because she wanted more money for her role.
