Oily fish prevents macular degeneration study shows
Recent Australian scientific research has shown that eating food rich in omega-3, such as oily fish, could help prevent vision loss due to macular degeneration.

The study by the University of Melbourne and published by the Annals of Ophthalmology concluded that omega-3 could cut down on the risk of people developing age-related macular degeneration (AMD) by as much as a third.

The disease mostly affects people who are over the age of 60, who progressively lose the ability to see fine detail leading to blindness in bad cases.

Past research has already determined that omega-3 fatty acids provide a range of health benefits, including helping reduce heart disease as well as being good for the eyesight.

Researchers said that eating oily fish twice a week could help cut down on the chances of getting AMD as the body gets older.
