French star Julien Benneteau loses but Gael Monfils wins
Swiss tennis star Roger Federer was not playing at his best although he nevertheless still managed a straight-sets victory against France's Julien Benneteau in the fourth round of the French Open.

Federer had some problems in both the first and second sets and again in the third but he fought his way to winning with a 6-4 7-5 7-5 score.

Roger FedererAfterwards Roger Federer, who is currently world number one, admitted: "I couldn't serve it out the way I wanted to in the first and second sets, but I felt OK out there. But it was tough conditions with the rain delay. I didn't think I had my best serving day today unfortunately."

But it wasn’t all bad luck for the home players because French favourite Gael Monfils delighted the crowd with a 7-6 4-6 6-3 6-2 victory against Croatia's Ivan Ljubicic to reach the last eight, and he now goes forward tp play Spanish fifth seed David Ferrer.
