France’s foreign ministry says Beijing oppose French holidaysThe foreign ministry if France has said that Beijing's official tourism body is recommending that China’s travel agents stop selling holidays to France.
But Beijing responded denying this claim saying that it had "simply reminded Chinese tourists to be careful about their security."
The news comes amidst worsening relations between China and France following the protests that were staged on the Paris leg of the Olympic torch relay when thousands of pro-Tibet campaigners disrupted the event earlier this year. French foreign ministry spokeswoman Pascale Andreani is reported to have said: "Our embassy in Beijing is currently taking steps with the Chinese authorities to find out the reasons..." French President Nicolas Sarkozy has talked of boycotting the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games unless China started talks with the Dalai Lama, whilst Chinese nationalists have urged a boycott of all products made in France.
