
The court, held in Charleville-Mezieres in France, also sentenced his 59-year-old wife Monique Olivier to a life sentence as well for being her husband’s accomplice, and for helping him abduct the girls and women he murdered.
The seven victims were killed in the Ardennes region of northern France and in Belgium and most were raped as well. They were aged between 12 and 22 and were murdered by being shot, strangled, or stabbed.
Fourniret was arrested in Belgium in 2003 after he tried to abduct a 13-year-old girl, who managed to escape.
In court he described himself as "an extremely dangerous individual" and said that he would not be appealing against his life sentence.
