French serial killer Michel Fourniret gets life
French serial killer Michel Fourniret, who is also known as the "Ogre of the Ardennes", has been sentenced to life by a French court for the murders of seven girls and young women.

66-year-old Fourniret admitted that he had kidnapped and killed his victims between 1987 and 2001.


Michel FourniretThe court, held in Charleville-Mezieres in France, also sentenced his 59-year-old wife Monique Olivier to a life sentence as well for being her husband’s accomplice, and for helping him abduct the girls and women he murdered.

The seven victims were killed in the Ardennes region of northern France and in Belgium and most were raped as well. They were aged between 12 and 22 and were murdered by being shot, strangled, or stabbed.

Fourniret was arrested in Belgium in 2003 after he tried to abduct a 13-year-old girl, who managed to escape.

In court he described himself as "an extremely dangerous individual" and said that he would not be appealing against his life sentence.
