David Bowie says no to Peter Schaufuss musical
Singer-songwriter, rock star and actor David Bowie has denied that he granted permission for his songs to be used in a new musical version of his 1976 film The Man Who Fell To Earth.

The Sun newspaper last week reported that Bowie was working with "top director" Peter Schaufuss on the musical version of the film, however, the singer’s music company RZO Music says it had licensed "absolutely no material" to Schaufuss.

David BowieDavid Bowie even went as far as saying he didn’t know who the Danish musical director was when he said: "I have no idea who Peter Schaufuss is either."

Bowie's representatives claim that the Schaufuss musical's advertising campaign "appears to be utilising an unauthorised name and likeness of Mr Bowie," and they are threatening to take legal action against the director.

Peter Schaufuss, who is a former director of the London Festival Ballet, has created many productions, including a controversial one based on the life of Diana, Princess of Wales.

The Man Who Fell To Earth film, directed by Nicolas Roeg, tells of an alien who comes to Earth looking for water to save his planet and starred David Bowie as the visitor from another world.
