UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown will not be welcoming him to 10 Downing Street, although he is due to meet the Dalai Lama, along with the Archbishop of Canterbury at Lambeth Palace on Friday.
Scotland Yard police are expecting demonstrations against the Dalai Lama and are taking appropriate action.
This is mainly because of anti-China protests led by Buddhist monks that took place in the Tibetan capital Lhasa in March this year. These protests became more heated and turned into actual rioting
China claims that the rioters killed at least 19 people, but the Tibetan exiles counter by saying that the Chinese security forces that were policing the riots killed many people.
China also alleges that the Dalai Lama was responsible for inciting the trouble, which he denies and he has responded by accusing the Chinese government of human rights abuses.
The Dalai Lama will be meeting Conservative leader David Cameron, visiting Nottingham and being awarded an honorary doctorate from London Metropolitan University, amongst highlights of his tour of the UK.
