Ashlee Simpson hospitalized in Japan

The younger sister of Jessica Simpson had just finished performing her latest single for MTV Japan, in Tokyo, when she told the audience she felt ill. Ashlee left the stage before collapsing in an elevator.

The cause of her collapse was widely speculated to be exhaustion, though no official diagnosis was made public.

Ashlee's appearance at the Radio Music Awards in Las Vegas Monday night was canceled. She is now back to the USA and is spending time with her family.

Simpson's second album, "I Am Me", was released in United States on October 18, 2005 and debuted at number one with sales around 220,000 copies. "Boyfriend", the first single, hit radio in early September 2005 and quickly became Simpson's fastest rising hit (the song peaked at #19 on the Billboard Hot 100).
