Former Velvet Revolver singer Scott Weiland sentenced
Rock singer Scott Weiland, who formerly fronted Velvet Revolver, was sentenced to eight days imprisonment when he pleaded no contest to a drink driving charge.

He was also given four years probation as well as being ordered to undergo an 18-month alcohol programme.

Rock star Scott WeilandScott Weiland, 40, had been arrested in November of last year when he crashed his car on a road in the Los Angeles area.

Velvet Revolver had parted company with Weiland because of his "erratic behaviour" earlier this month and he went back to singing with the Stone Temple Pilots, who have reunited as a band.

However, Stone Temple Pilots are due to begin a lengthy tour on 17 May and this will mean Weiland will have to miss some of it because he must serve his jail sentence by 28 May.

Scott Weiland has had drug and alcohol problems for years and he has been arrested before for drug related offences.
