French golfer Gregory Bourdy wins the Portuguese Open
French golf star Gregory Bourdy beat English player David Howell and Scottish golfer Alastair Forsyth at the third extra hole and won the Portuguese Open.

Gregory Bourdy began well with a four-shot lead over Alastair Forsyth, and six-shots up on David Howell, however, he soon went back two when he dropped three shots in five holes.


Golf star Gregory BourdyBut Gregory Bourdy recovered his past form with four birdies in the back nine, and then with two pars over the difficult last two holes he made sure of his chance in am aliminator.

In the final play-off, three pars were what Gregory Bourdy needed and got to beat his two British opponents.

At the second extra hole, Alastair Forsyth's tee-shot went left and made sure he had no chance left of winning, and then when Gregory Bourdy and David Howell made their way to the 17th tee for the third extra hole, David Howell went through the green from the middle of the fairway.
