Harry Potter fans have complained in the past when parts of the books have been left out of the film versions, and Daniel Radcliffe, who plays the teenage wizard Harry Potter, told the Los Angeles Times that splitting it into two parts was the only logical thing to do.
And Jeff Robinov, president of Warner Bros films, has said that splitting it into two was "the best way to do the book, and its many fans, justice".
The first film of the two Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows movies is scheduled for general release in autumn 2010, and part two will be shown the year after that.
