Welsh soul singer Duffy tops both singles and album charts

Welsh soul singer Duffy has gone right to the top of the album charts with her debut release Rockferry, and at the same time her single Mercy has been a number one for a third week in a row.

Duffy, who won second place in the Sound of 2008 talent search organised by the BBC, has sold 180,000 copies of her album Rockferry.

Duffy has the fastest sales for an album this year and she has outsold the rest of the Top 10 put together, according to information compiled by the Official Charts Company (OCC).

Duffy’s Rockferry pushed Amy Winehouse's Back To Black down to number two.

Duffy's Rockferry is the latest in a run of hit debut albums from British artists so far this year, and Duffy follows in the successful footsteps of Adele, Amy McDonald and Scouting For Girls.
