Chad children in French aid workers scandal go home
The former French colony of Chad is allowing the 103 children who had been potential victims of the French aid workers’ kidnapping scandal to be returned to their families, Unicef has revealed.

Six French charity workers from Zoe’s Ark had been convicted of attempting to abduct the children by claiming they were orphans from war-torn Darfur.

UnicefSince the case came to light the children have been at an orphanage in Chad, but are now reported to be going home to relatives in the very near future.

Apparently they have had to wait until now so that Chadian officials could identify the correct guardians, and this had been complicated because Zoe's Ark had left very little paperwork about the children's identities.

Jean-Francois Basse, a spokesman for Unicef, explained that whilst some of the children really were orphans, they had managed to find the guardians for most of them.

The six convicted aid workers have since been sent back to France to serve their sentences.
