Hollywood star Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer

Hollywood movie star Patrick Swayze has pancreatic cancer, his agent has revealed but his doctor George Fisher said that rumours that the actor had only five weeks to live were not true.

Patrick Swayze, 55, is currently receiving medical treatment but he is carrying on with his filming schedule and it is understood he is working on two films due for release later this year.

Patrick Swayze, who is best known for his roles in the films Ghost and Dirty Dancing, was first diagnosed with cancer over a month back, the New York Post had reported.

Dr Fisher explained: "Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far. All of the reports stating the timeframe of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue."

Patrick Swayze's agent Annett Wolf also said: "Patrick is continuing his normal schedule during this time, which includes working on upcoming projects."
