French driver Sebastien Loeb wins Rally of Mexico
French rally driver Sebastien Loeb claimed a clear victory at the Rally of Mexico, and in so doing he closed the gap on championship leader Mikko Hirvonen by just one point.

Sebastien Loeb, 34, who was driving a Citroen, was in the lead from the second day, and he stayed there to win by a margin of one minute and 0.6 seconds.

Sebastien LoebSebastien Loeb said: "There's always a bit more pressure when you are some points behind. But OK, I always expected to do a good job here in Mexico."

Australian Subaru driver Chris Atkinson was in second position and Ford's Jari-Matti Latvala, who had originally been the leader, came third.

Coming first at the Rally of Mexico was Sebastien Loeb's 38th victory, and has set a record for the championship, as well as being a third win in a row in Mexico for him.

"This rally has not been so easy, I had a big battle with Jari-Matti but we got the result we came for finally," Sebastien Loeb also said after the race.
