The couple spent four months doing research on the photograph and enlisted the help of Marilyn Monroe expert Chris Harris, who was just as excited about the find and confirmed what they had thought.
Chris Harris then arranged a press conference to make a public showing of what he thought was a rare photo but he let some journalists have a look before the media conference was called.
Unfortunately for Chris Harris and the Nicastros, the journalists said they thought it was actually a photo of Madonna from her controversial 1992 book, Sex.
Chris Harris then was able to see his error and is reported to have said: "You're right; it's Madonna. If there ever was an embarrassing moment."
