Heath Ledger died from overdosing on a cocktail of drugs
Hollywood film star Heath Ledger died from accidentally overdosing on a cocktail of six types of prescription drugs, it has been revealed.
Heath Ledger, 28, was found dead in January in an apartment he had been renting, and police investigating his death discovered pill bottles in his room.
The New York city medical examiner's spokeswoman, Ellen Borakove, explained that Heath Ledger died "as the result of acute intoxication by the combined effects" of the drugs he had taken. The drugs identified in Heath Ledger’s body were the painkillers Oxycontin and Ibuprofen, the anti-anxiety drugs Valium and Xanax, as well as the sedatives, Restoril and Unisom. Heath Ledger's father Kim is reported to have said: "While no medications were taken in excess, we learned today the combination of doctor-prescribed drugs proved lethal for our boy. Heath's accidental death serves as a caution to the hidden dangers of combining prescription medication, even at low dosage."
