France rugby team call on Perpignan's David MartyThe France rugby team with new coach Marc Lievremont in charge, have called on Perpignan's David Marty as the replacement for Toulouse centre Florian Fritz in Saturday's Six Nations opener match against Scotland.
David Marty will be the sixth France rugby team member to have been part of the squad, which lost out to England in the World Cup semi-final, to play now against Scotland at Murrayfield.
Florian Fritz will be unable to take part in the entire French Six Nations campaign because he broke his lower leg whilst training, and team doctor Jean-Philippe Hager explained: "The forecast is a minimum of six weeks to three months out." Florian Fritz also missed out on the World Cup in 2007, and his current injury sadly leaves France with only two other rugby players in their 22-man team - Damien Traille, and replacement David Skrela, who can cover at centre. And uncapped Francois Trinh-Duc will be playing at fly-half as one of four new players in a drastically restructured side for France's opening Six Nations match against Scotland.
