French cosmetics company L’Oréal reports sales growth
French firm L'Oréal, which is the world's largest cosmetics and beauty company and which has its headquarters in the Paris suburb of Clichy, has announced a growth in sales figures.

The reported sales of the L'Oréal group, at December 31st 2007, added up to 17.063 billion euros, which is an increase of 8.1%, and is said to be the result of changes in consolidation, due to the company’s acquisitions of The Body Shop, Sanoflore, Beauty Alliance, PureOlogy and Maly’s West.


 L’OréalOn 17 March 2006 L'Oréal had already made a £652 million takeover of the ethical cosmetics company The Body Shop.

Jean-Paul Agon, who is the Chief Executive Officer of L'Oréal, commenting on last year’s growth, is reported to have said: "We achieved a quite exceptional 4th quarter, bolstered by a large number of initiatives."

All divisions of L’Oréal played a significant active role in the company’s recent successful growth and increased sales.

L’Oréal has five research and development centers around the world with two in France in Aulnay and Chevilly, one in America, one in Japan, and in 2005, another was set up in China’s Shanghai.
