Britney Spears, 26, lost custody of her two sons earlier in January after she failed to give the boys over to her ex-husband, Kevin Federline, at a time set for this purpose.
Apparently Sam Lutfi had been staying with Britney Spears constantly and Barbara Walters went on to add: "He said that she has been to a psychiatrist and that she, I assume, is starting some kind of treatment."
Barbara Walters also said that Sam Lufti had told her more about Britney Spears and she continued: "She has been having mood swings. She's been having trouble sleeping, and also she is in touch with her mother - and her mother has been very supportive of whatever it is that Britney is going to do."
Britney Spears and Kevin Federline were divorced last year and since then the singer has been leading a very troubled life that has kept her in the news for all the wrong reasons.
