US soul star Ike Turner died from cocaine abuse
American soul star Ike Turner, who died last month aged 76, was killed by overdosing on cocaine, coroners in California say.

San Diego County medical examiner's office has recorded this as their verdict and a statement from them said: "We are listing that he abused cocaine and that's what resulted in the cocaine toxicity."

Ike TurnerCardiovascular disease and pulmonary emphysema also contributed to his death, the report states.

Ike Turner's daughter Mia was, however, shocked by the news, and whilst she admitted that he had fought an "ongoing struggle" with drugs, she claimed that the coroner’s verdict was "overstating the situation".

Mia Turner is reported to have said: "Daddy, at that point, was not doing drugs to the level it leads to believe."

Ike Turner shot to fame in the 1960s, with the song River Deep - Mountain High, a hit song recorded with former wife Tina Turner, however, after that he received a lot of bad press because she had accused him of abuse and cruelty before their stormy marriage ended.
