But Valerie Begue, who gained the title of Miss France less than a fortnight back and who had gone back on Thursday to a warm welcome on the Indian Ocean island of Reunion, has refused to resign, and says she feels betrayed.
The matter came to light when the President of the Miss France contest, Genevieve de Fontenay, went on French radio claiming that Valerie Begue should give up her title.
Genevieve de Fontenay added that if she had known about the pictures, Valerie Begue "would never have been let into the Miss France competition".
At a press conference on Friday, Valerie Begue responded saying that she would take some time to consider making a decision on standing down and giving up her Miss France title.
