European friendly between France and Germany
ended in a goalless draw
France and Germany met in a European friendly international on Saturday at the Stade de France in Paris and drew 0-0. This was to be both countries' last international for this year and France will return in March 2006 to play a friendly against Slovakia in preparation for the World Cup finals in Germany.

France therefore remains undefeated after 17 games under the guidance of coach Raymond Domenech, who took over from Jacques Santini in July 2004. "It was a very balanced game between two teams playing at roughly the same level," said Domenech. "I'm certainly not disappointed with what I saw tonight."

However, the French side was missing key players, Zinedine Zidane and Patrick Vieira in midfield, who were out of action due to groin injuries. The Juventus striker, David Trezeguet added: "The conditions were tough and we had in front of us a very disciplined and tactical team. The players were tired three days after playing Costa Rica in Martinique, that is why we are quite satisfied with a draw."

German coach Jürgen Klinsmann said the match was good experience for his young players and added "I would obviously have preferred us to win but I'm pleased with our performance".
