
Nicolas Sarkozy said both the countries of France and Algeria should fight "all forms of racism" and he also is reported to have said: "There is nothing that more closely resembles anti-Semitism than Islamophobia. Both have the same face: that of stupidity and hate."
Speaking to heads of Algerian business, Nicolas Sarkozy further condemned colonialism by stating: "Yes, the colonial system was profoundly unjust, contrary to the three founding words of our Republic: freedom, equality, brotherhood."
Nicolas Sarkozy also pointed out that many crimes had been committed on both French and Algerian sides during Algeria's war of independence from 1954 to 1962.
President Nicolas Sarkozy is hoping to confirm several big business deals during his visit to Algeria.
