Former French President Jacques Chirac under suspicion
Former French President Jacques Chirac is under suspicion and being investigated for alleged embezzlement of public funds when he was serving as mayor of Paris, it has been reported.

Rightist sympathisers had been given jobs by Paris city hall, according to allegations, however, Jacques Chirac has denied any wrongdoing he was mayor of the French capital city between 1977 and 1995.

Jacques Chirac20 people are suspected of being given jobs or of appointing others for positions of convenience in the 1980s and 1990s, during the time period when Jacques Chirac was mayor.

To actually be under such an investigation means that judges feel there is serious enough evidence against a suspect to hold such a probe, and Jacques Chirac lost immunity from being investigated after he left the French presidency in May.

The courts in party funding trials have publicly disgraced many other people, and some of these have included some of Jacques Chirac's own close personal associates.
