Myspace and Facebook users risk identity fraud
Social networking sites such as MySpace and Facebook pose a considerable risk for users to experience identity fraud unless they are very careful it has been claimed.

Get Safe Online, a campaigning organisation with the support of the British government, warns against posting personal details online on these sites.

MyspaceTony Neate, who is the managing director of GetSafeOnline.org, explained that a date of birth and address were enough for a, Internet criminal to set up a credit card in another person’s name.

Studies by the group have revealed that as many as eight million people leave home wireless networks unprotected against unwelcome intrusion.

Not only that, but over half of the over-65s surveyed use the same password for every website they are members of, it was discovered, and they suggest that it would be a wise precaution for these people to change their passwords more frequently and not to use the same details.
